On Thursday, October 2, The Think Pink featured speaker was Amy Breitmann with The Lydia Project.

Amy's topic "From Treatment to Teamwork: Using the Hardships of Cancer to Encourage Others" inspired over 200 community supporters in attendance to "view the cancer experience through the lens of faith, hope, and love to battle fear, discouragement, and anger." This luncheon was held support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and sponsored by The Augusta Chronicle, University Hospital and GA Bank and Trust. To view other photos from this event, click here.

Dear Members of the Lydia Project—and especially Julie K, who made my delightful tote,

How does one even begin to say thank you for such a loving gift—from strangers! I’ve had my tote for over a month—and have thought about the gift and you ladies each day—wondering how to express my gratitude for your caring. I finally realized I’m not going to find the perfect way because there really is no way to show how much the thoughts of your group have meant to me….I am 80 years old and feel fortunate to have lived this long without the breast cancer diagnosis, especially since my mother first experienced breast cancer at 38. Since my husband died, and since I have no siblings, I am quite alone in the world except for two wonderful daughters and their families. With their busy lives (they each have 3 children), I hate to make their lives any more complicated, but they have been wonderful…Once again, thank you and May God bless your work which you do in His name.

People want to know...
"How can I or my group get involved supporting women coping with cancer?"
It's easy to get involved at The Lydia Project...
Volunteers make a phenomenal difference.
Opportunities include sewing from home, writing supportive notes at the office or from home, volunteering in the office (Monday through Friday), helping at events, praying at the office Thursday mornings or from home, and more.

If you would to like join the awesome Lydia volunteer team, please contact 706-736-5467 or complete and mail the online volunteer form located at the top left link "Volunteer" on this home page.
Groups make a far-reaching difference.
1. Raise awareness of Lydia’s mission while rallying others around a worthwhile cause that affects everyone. Coordinate a fundraiser at your workplace, place of worship, or your child’s school, bringing awareness to and raising funds for women coping with cancer. An example, employers can pick a designated day (or days) and offer a “blue jean” day for employees who make donations of $5 or more to The Lydia Project.

2. Coordinate a collection drive of needed items. Visit the “Agency Needs List” on this home page for a complete list.

3. Inform others how they can donate online in honor or memory of a loved one or friend. Online donors receive immediate acknowledgements. Their loved ones or friends receive a letter acknowledging the thoughtfulness in their or their loved one’s name.
The Lydia Project
is pleased to assist groups with flyers and guidance as needed.
